I'm a networker. That's one of the things that I do best. I'm also pretty influential but as a important magazine article once said about me, "He's definitely good at networking". So, I was having coffee in the bay area this past weekend, before an important meeting when this kid approaches me to sing my praises. He went on and on how he has used my "8 networking steps for super important successful people" and applied them to a little website he has developed...some sort of college project. So, as a favor, I am going to "beta test" his new networking site for a while. I'm pretty sure his site will tank after a few weeks but I believe that my influence and importance will garner enough interest to bring a few people along. You can check out his site HERE. Please stop! I'm usually not this brash but my email server is being overloaded! If it makes you all happy, then I accept these Thinking Blogger Awards. Being awarded over 200 times is plenty but when then next 300 rolled in, I had to say something. I guess a thank you to my fans is in order but let's be honest, does this blog really need a little gold (over 500 of them) award to prove that I am an amazing thinker? I "think" not.

1 Nate Rice

Nate is the super important junior high Director at a super famous camp (Billy Graham was there once). Nate has thought about writing some books and contributed some thoughts to his wife about articles she has written for numerous magazines. He is an editor for Nick’s homework and the founder of superimportantblog.blogspot.com

2 Eric Venable

Eric is the really important V.P. of YouthFront, a 60 year-old, interdenominational youth ministry that strives to serve the local church and play as much golf as possible with a lot of really important people.

3 Mark Oestreicher

Marko, the recent recipient of the prestigious “Thinking Blogger Award”, could have made this list with his eyes closed. Not only is he the President of Youth Specialties, he’s a client. Note: Writing a series of books with the really super important award winner Kurt Johnson.

4 Johnny Scott

Johnny Scott is the Director of the big time traveling show “Jr High Believe” weekend Events by Christ In Youth. Not only an amazing para-church minister but Johnny is a bona-fide rock legend. Heard of Stryper? So has Johnny.

5 Andy Jack

While Andy is currently serving as a junior high pastor, he deserves mention on this list for two reasons. First, he was voted 21^st on the Church Report’s Top 20 Youth Pastors list and second, he did speak at a para-church event this year which sort-of makes him a super important para-church leader. Way to go Andy! Congrats!

6 Sean Meade

With a title like “National Coordinator”, there is no question Sean deserves to be on this super important list. Sean works one day a year but it’s a super hard day of work.

7 John Wilson

John barely made this list. As the Executive Director of the Lake Ave Community Foundation, we’re not sure exactly what John does but it’s most likely super important.

8 Jason Raitz

Jason is the Founder of Project 311 which serves to….oh wait….never mind.

9 Ron Luce

It's hard to believe that Ron Luce didn't end up higher on this list. A para-church mega star, Ronny (as his very close friends call him), is hard at work creating a para-military force of youth that are fighting the good war against the evils of Culture. Among other things, Ron's got a knack for coming up with hip names for ministries such as "Teen Mania".

10 Madonna

Music icon, Film Star and recently, para-church minister. Millions of youth (and drunk 34 year old house wives) crammed stadiums this past year to hear the gospel according to Madonna. Using a well lit cross, she used music and dance to spread the good news. She could easily move up on this list in future years!

I know, I know. I am breaking my own rule for posting two times in less than one day, but this must be blogged about.

Sometimes I feel that the "media" is just out to get me. This time, it's Al Jezeera. They have accused me of heinous misconduct. I'm a family man! I do not consider such lascivious activity, let alone entertain it. I'm outraged by this vicious rumor and plan to contact my lawyer if this continues!

Too much of a good Tang!

Because I am probably going into space one day, I thought it would be beneficial to drink Tang on a regular basis and prepare myself for the trip. This morning, I put on my "pre-flight space suit" that was custom made for me last week, including the "space gloves" that are a bit bulky.

I know you see where this story is going so let me cut to the chase.

As I tried to open the tang with my gloves on, one thing led to another and Tang went flying everywhere. That's right. Tang particles all over the place.

Again, you might be thinking to yourself, "wow...good thing you were wearing your space suit", and you would be right. Could you image Tang flying up your nose? Or worse, I could have actually been in space and the Tang particles could have gone floating around "zero grav", clogging up the sensitive computer equipment.

Anywho...I will keep practicing this week and perfect my Tang opening procedures.

Dining with a SIB Fan

Today, one lucky guest was able to enjoy lunch with yours truly. Typically, I stay away from such engagements but I have been putting this one off for a long time and was tired of his constant pestering (he even called me while we were both in the parking lot). Overall, it was a enjoyable lunch and I didn't stop him as he talked about this very blog. While I of course offered to pay for our dining experience, this SIB fan was so trilled by our time that he gladly picked up the tab.

Venti Milk Please!

Just to prove how superior my children are, they only order Starbucks sized drinks....where ever they dine. For example, this week, I proudly watched Maddie ask her pre-school teacher for a Venti chocolate milk. Nick prefers the Tall O.J. at lunch and both kids have Grande sized sippy cups at home.

My kid's are better than yours

I love my kids so this entry might be a little biased. I have read the blogs of other bloggers, blogging about their kids and how great they are. Fine, you have great kids but the truth is my kids are simply better than yours. Don’t take this personally SIB fan. Your kids are fine. Mine are simply better.
Just this week, Nick not only learned to Ollie on his skate board but he came up with a couple of solutions to solve world hunger, memorized Homer, and built a time machine.
Maddie also had an impressive week.

Frankly, I could blog all day about how perfect my kids are but I need to go do some really important stuff at the moment with my kids.

Super Important Time off

Why do my fan's insist on flooding my inbox questioning my absence and other such complaints? Don't you know I have Super Important things to do and can't always blog?! Even today, I really don't have time to type these words because of all the important things I have to do.
Here's a quick summary of the past couple of months to bring us up to speed.
- Spent time with the Family.
- Visited multiple Starbucks and enjoyed expensive water
- Read a few books that you probably have never heard of.
- Once again, watched the far superior British version of The Office
- Explained the plot of The Good Shepherd to some friends who “didn’t get it.”
- Viewed my favorite culturally important news website

This morning, before I left the house, I put on my morning coat, top-hat and monocle so that I could fully enjoy a latte at Java Java Java, a local spot that only a few people know about. I slid into my Prius, achieved amazing fuel economy, and parked in my favorite spot. Linda created my latte while I checked my stocks in the Journal. Pretty Important stuff...

It's no surprise to those who know me that I love God and I love the internet. So, yesterday my two faves collided when I stumbled upon God's very own blog. Where does he get the time? LOL

Anyhoo, God is pretty funny and we have the same taste in music! I am a little concerned with his take on Halloween though (just like I’m pretty sure God wouldn’t want us reading anything by J.K. Rowling). God’s theology is a little off. I mean, seriously, does God actually want me to believe that He doesn’t have a problem with kids dressing up as “the evil one”? I assume God is just using satire here like he did with the whole “I created the earth in 7 days” thing.

Well, I’m off to drink coffee with super important people at the NYWC.

I had dinner at Spago this week with some important friends and tried out Wolfgang’s newest dish. He calls it “ K.F.C. Illustre basinella” and let me tell you…it was superb! The bottom layer of the dish was a creamy white vegetable that had been churned to the perfect consistency. The next layer was a imported yellow maize cooked to perfection. The star of the meal was the flash fried duck (I believe it was duck) that had an amazing brown truffle glaze sause drizzled on it. The whole thing was topped off with 3 amazing French cheeses. I know most of you wish you could dine where I dine but you will just have to enjoy these pleasures through my blog.

I did nothing of the sort!!!

Every once in a while, someone crosses the line and takes something I said, in confidence, out of context. Today, I'm reading the UK Times Online while enjoying a hot green tea, and I notice this headline and story:

Rice tells Japan: 'We will defend you'

No I didn't! Never once in my conversation with Japan did I say "We will defend you". I might have said, "We will befriend you" or "My son loves Pokemon" but the thought of defending a country that I barely know is ludicrous.

Anyhoo, I'm off to comment on some other important blogs that say important things....

Sensual Amber

So the Bath and Body Works Christmas catalog just came in the mail. There is a new scent called Sensual Amber (which is creepy simply because my sister's name is Tina). There's something about a stuffed bunny holding "Wickedly Hot Chocolate Shimmer" Body Lotion that just screams Jesus' Birthday.

I shouldn't have had that 3rd cup of coffee tonight. I walked down my hallway 4 times in a 5 hour period and I watched 20 minutes of Nightline. Off to bed to dream of walking on a beach with seagulls.
